AMR Policy Accelerator at the ReAct Africa Annual AMR Conference 2026

Date: 21–22 July 2026
Location: Lusaka, Zambia

For the fourth year running, the Global Strategy Lab’s AMR Policy Accelerator is a proud co-sponsor of the ReAct Africa Annual AMR Conference.

Hosted in Lusaka, Zambia, the 2026 conference brings together policymakers, researchers, civil society leaders, practitioners and global health experts working to advance action on antimicrobial resistance across Africa. This year’s theme, “Africa Leading the Way to Institutionalizing Pragmatic People-Centred AMR Solutions from Grassroots to Regional Level,” highlights the importance of practical, locally grounded approaches that strengthen governance, policy implementation, and community-driven action.

The AMR Policy Accelerator is pleased to support this important forum and to support ReAct Africa’s leadership role in advancing AMR action across the continent. Through its convening power, technical support, and commitment to cross-sector collaboration, ReAct Africa has played a vital role in helping countries share experience, strengthen national action plans, and move from commitment to implementation.

Plenary Presentation and Panel: Strengthening Governance for Accountability and Action on AMR

Suzanne Naro will provide a plenary presentation on strengthening One Health governance for supporting action on AMR. Suzanne will then participate in a panel discussion on the same topic. This session will explore what existing One Health governance tools on AMR offer, where gaps remain, implementation considerations, and how countries can be better supported to translate commitments into action.

Policy Brief and Pitch Interactive Session

Our participation builds on our collaboration with ReAct Africa and other partners during last year’s annual conference, where the AMR Policy Accelerator delivered the AMR Policymaking Course . Attendees expressed strong interest in more practical tools to support their work.

In response, the AMR Policy Accelerator developed a three-part online training series focused on practical policy skills and tools for AMR action. The final session will be facilitated by Kadia and Suzanne in person in Lusaka as a parallel session during the 2026 conference. This will be an opportunity to gain practical experience in developing policy pitches, communicating with diverse stakeholders, and continue building connections among AMR policymakers and practitioners. Participation in this session is limited to those who have registered and participated in the training series.

Full conference details are available through the ReAct Africa  website.
