GSL Director Steven Hoffman Calls for Unified Action Against Antibiotic Resistance

Lots of business people walking in the City of London. Blurred image, wide panoramic view of the road with people at sunny day.

Steven Hoffman, Director of the Global Strategy Lab, recently contributed to a Nature news feature where he highlighted the importance of establishing a global unifying target for collective action against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Drawing parallels with efforts to combat climate change , Hoffman advocated for the implementation of a global treaty to address this pressing issue. He underscored the urgency for stronger action, proposing a 35% reduction in drug-resistant infections by 2035 as a feasible goal for countries to unite behind. He also stressed the need for financial support from wealthier nations to aid those disproportionately affected by antibiotic resistance, mirroring efforts in climate-change politics.
