Policy Advisor for the AMR Policy Accelerator Attends CPHA 2024 Conference

Suzanne Naro, Policy Advisor for the AMR Policy Accelerator, addressed the challenges faced by migrant and refugee communities in accessing antibiotics during her presentation at the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) 2024 conference.

The conference took place from April 23 to 25. She discussed findings from an evidence review conducted by the AMR Policy Accelerator team, emphasizing the barriers encountered along healthcare that impede these populations’ antibiotic access and appropriate usage. Factors such as language barriers, cultural disparities, and limited financial resources were highlighted as significant contributors to the issue.

Naro’s presentation sparked discussions among conference attendees, prompting calls for greater inclusivity and tailored healthcare interventions for refugee and migrant communities.
